About 100 residents of Harlesden and Stonebridge in London were given a free haircut at a festival and competiton celebrating the area's local barber shops.
Barberfest 2006, which took place in Harlesden Plaza on Tavistock Road, was sponsored by Brent Council's Harlesden and Stonebridge Neighbourhood Renewal Team, Brent Business Venture, and NW10 Connect. Six barbers took part in the competition. Martin Francis (second from right in top photo) from Actife Barbers was chosen as the Barber of the Year for the second year running. Spectators were given free haircuts along with refreshments donated by local businesses. Brent's Town Centre Wardens actively took part in the event. The Barberfest winner shaved the hair of one of the Wardens. This was arranged to raise money for the National Society of Epilepsy.
